Gloucestershire is situated at the northern edge of the south
west region of England. Despite its large areas of population
like Gloucester and Cheltenham, Gloucestershire is essentially
a rural county. Towns such as Cirencester have great historic
importance being one of the most important towns in Roman times.
Gloucestershire
is split into three main areas. The Cotswolds, the Royal Forest
of Dean and the Severn Vale. The county city is Gloucester and
the largest town is Cheltenham.
Good road
links mean that Gloucestershire is a popular area to live and
work. There are good connections to the south west via the M5
motorway. The M5 also takes you to central England with Birmingham
only about a one and a quarter hour drive from the county.
The M4 links
the country to London to the East and Wales to the West.
Gloucester
and Cheltenham have major employers. Cirencester has the likes
of Capita and St. James Place.
